After seeing the WRC up close in Perth in '97 I was keen to see more of this crazy motor sport.
The Rally of Canberra was a round of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship and was a major part of rallying in Australia. In the early years I attended it was well supported by well-funded works entries from Subaru (multiple cars Possum Bourne, Cody Crocker and some others), Toyota Motorsports (Neal Bates), and Mitsubishi/Ralliart (which brought a couple of Group A monsters for their factory drivers and ran a well-prepared Group N car for local dirver Ed Ordynski).
